Time has become such a blur. I don’t know when the days begin or end. This evening I have Zeppo here with me for shift change. So I got to eat with two hands! I also got to type the first paragraph of this post. I have the sneaky suspicion that I will be typing the rest of this post after I calm down Zoë from general baby fussy hour. *smiles*
---short while later---
Shift change vitals…so Zeppo and I will watch some Psych and eat some popcorn!
---long while later---
Ok. So our “date” was only about 10 minutes long…then I got to dance with Zoë for a while. She fell asleep in my
arms, but woke up as soon as she was placed in bed. So we nursed and snuggled, and eventually she fell back asleep. I immediately dropped off into dreamlandia myself.
So Zoë and I will be spending one more night in Boston before returning home tomorrow, as long as all goes well.
Most of Zoë’s issues are food and puke related. She had a few episodes of puking again yesterday, and last night even with her feeds slowed sown. So she had to have an IV for some hydration last night, as well as some meds to settle her stomach.
I was told by one of the doctors who did morning rounds that this morning her bowel sounds are a lot more calm.
So who knows, maybe she had a bit of a bug? Could it have been the extra feeds? What would cause blood in her poop? I believe there are some things that will go unanswered, but what we do know is that she is resting far more comfortably today.
So I was asked about this throwing up, and how I know she is throwing up and not just spitting up.
Here are my definitions:
Throwing up: Large projectile vomiting with heaving, emptying all of the contents of the stomach. Several heaves and some dry heaving to follow. It will come out of her mouth, and nose at the same time, also followed by sneezing, and crying then exhaustion. She and anyone near her will be covered in the mess.
Spitting up: A small amount of food coming up with an air bubble, usually when burping. Not fully emptying the contents of her stomach.
What Zoë has been doing for the past several days has been throwing up. So lots of clothing changes for her, and me, and dad, and tons of bedding changes. I have the feeling that I am going to have to invest in a lot more bedding and some waterproof quilts for her bed.
*I left off at the end of the definitions never to finish my post…ran into a lot of teachings, and prep for our eventual home coming. *big smiles*
