Laura told me she was working on something tonight...for Zoë. This Go Gold For Zoë meme is what she meant. I still have trouble accepting that Zoë passed away two years ago. It seems so unfair that any child would have to fight for dear life. It's worse that my child had to endure that battle. I love this picture of Zoë sleeping with her friends, the stuffed animals. It's a beautiful picture. It's peaceful, when at the time of my life, things were certainly not peaceful, but always a whirlwind of emotions and precarious certainty. Many times I wish I could peak in the nursery and look down on my sleeping Warrior Princess as easily as it is to load a picture. Will I ever see my daughter again? It is possible that we will have the opportunity to reconnect with Zoë before long. Laura contacted a professor at Brown University, who manages Ladd Observatory in Providence, RI. This is significant because in 2012, a group of employees at Citizen's Bank pulled together enough money and actually bought the rights to name a star after Zoë. The professor agreed to arrange a night in 2015 when Zoë's star is in the skywhere we may come to the observatory and view the star. It's too far away to see by eyes alone, but with the help of science and a powerful telescope, Laura and I will reconnect with our darling Zoë again in this life. |
