I was awoken by Zoë screaming out in the middle of the night. Three short yells. I pop out of bed and rush to her side. She immediatly calms down. Looking up at the wall clock it is exactly 12:00 midnight, and the new year.
Zoë went roaring into the new year!
She has had a very wakeful night. Not wanting to sleep, or miss a thing. She has had her eyes stubbornly open even after being dosed with morphine!
So here is a list of my resolutions for this year:
I resolve to stay strong mentally, physically, spiritually during this long night of my life.
To use humor, sarcasm, and dirty language as much as I want.
To love more deeply.
To lean on others when I cannot go on.
To appriciate every second of life.
To hug others more often.
To say, "I love you" when I have the urge...even if I just said it.
To take care of myself so I am able to help others.
To do at least one walk-a-thon.
To smile and laugh and be stuborn, to be flexable.
To listen to others with my ears and heart open wide.
To eat chocolate and sharp chedar chese with apples, oh my!
To read to my daughter, even dirty Christopher Moore books.
To not forget to take a moment each day to breath deeply, feel centered, to locate my physical and mental center and feel alive.
To help an old lady cross the street.
To always hold the door open for others.
To always use my blinker, and not high beam.
To play piddle.
And finally to print this list and hold myself accountable.
